Fitness Update

Since one of my latest posts on health and fitness I have regularly been going to the gym to do cardio, weights and several different fitness classes. In the past few weeks I have really noticed a change in my body and fitness levels. My arms and legs especially have become significantly more toned and muscular and my core feels a lot stronger, I'll admit I still have a way to go before I am fully happy with my body but the improvements I have been seeing are definitely a step in the right direction. My general strength has significantly improved with me being able to lift more and more each time I go to the gym.
My favourite part of this journey has been the ability within myself to continually push myself further and further, especially during the HIIT class that I have been attending daily and loving. There is honestly nothing more satisfying than having the fitness instructor complement my form and ability to complete the workouts.

Health and Fitness

I have to admit, for the past few months whilst I have been busy with university work, my health and fitness routines have definitely taken a back burner.
Studying sports science and nutrition I am always conscious of what I should be eating and that I should be exercising regularly, yet it seemingly becomes so difficult when faced with a 10,000 word dissertation amongst other things!
Now that my dissertation has finally been handed in (praise the lord!), I can finally get back on track with my healthy eating and fitness.
As a motivation tool for getting fit again I treated myself to two new swimming costumes and since buying them I have been working out in the pool three times a week for the past three weeks. All I need to do now is get back into the gym doing some weight training and my fitness routine will be well underway.
In terms of healthy eating, me and my sister bought a blender and have been making veggie smoothies ever since which is a good start, I now just need to stop eating so much chocolate!
After only a few weeks of working out I can definitely feel the differences within myself. I am generally a lot happier and have so much more energy. I am determined to keep up my routine this time, and not slip back into old habits.

Sick for Christmas...Again!

It's starting to feel a bit like ground hog day for me. This time last year I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and glandular fever and had to spend a week in hospital  hooked up to a drip.
Then low and behold, last week I started to feel ill again and finally went to visit the doctor today. I have got like the worst cough in history of coughs so the doctor gave me a new inhaler and some steroids which, fingers crossed, will make me feel better (and stop coughing!) soon.
I'm just hoping that I will be healthy next year!

Green Tea

I have really been loving tea recently, (and I don't mean typical English tea with milk and sugar because that is gross!), especially green tea, peppermint tea and orange tea. Tea has such great health benefits that it seems silly not to drink it!

Particularly good benefits:
- Increased metabolism
- Preventing diabetes
- Protection against heart disease
- Protection against certain  cancers
- Cholesterol regulation
- Delayed brain cell deterioration
- Prevention against tooth decay
- Regulation of blood pressure
- Aid relaxation
- Anti-viral properties
- Anti-ageing properties

Who could say no to all that?!
